Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. He was also a part of The Killing, a drama series which was broadcast across the world. He later appeared in Borgen III and Those Who Kill, two internationally well-known Danish dramas. He also had a prominent character in the BBC drama Sherlock where he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He was the president of Russia in House of Cards, an American television series. In 2018, he won an International Emmy Award for his performance as the president in Russia on the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was shown in the UK in the year 2019. He said that his brother and he first learned English by listening and studying the Monty Python songs.
